Missouri passed a law in 2016 that went into effect as of Oct 1, 2016, so MO residents are NOT currently able to participate in MFL10s. Unfortunately, the bill is not at all favorable for small companies like MFL. Here is an article from last year with some details and information. The issue that makes this impossible for us to offer MFL10s is the $10,000 licensing fee that is required to operate fantasy games with entry fees and prizes in the state. There was actually an effort to veto the bill last summer, but that failed, so the law went into effect as of the fall of 2016.
There is some good news, though. There is an active effort to update the law to reduce the licensing fees and make the law more manageable for small businesses like MFL. We will keep an eye on the progress, and hopefully it is a state that we can revisit in 2017 to offer MFL10s again sometime in the future. Unfortunately, we don’t have a timeframe or a guess as to when this might happen.
4/7/2017 Update: Here is an op-ed article from Tim Jensen, who owns and operates RTSports.com, which is a company very similar to MyFantasyLeague.com. In his opinion piece, he provides more information about the situation in Missouri along with a plea and call to action.Back to List of All States
